Whatever Your Reason, We Got You Covered
Business Travel
Finding and going to the airport rental facility is a mind-numbing experience. Most traditional rental car companies wont guarantee any certain car, and overbooking practices may mean you’re left high-and-dry when you finally do arrive at the rental counter. At Tesla Rides, you get the exact vehicle you selected. We also bring the car directly to your terminal garage, so you can get on with business as soon as you arrive.
Vacation Travel
Whether visiting Chicago or going out-of-town, we got you covered. We’ll bring your rental directly to your home, office, or hotel, so you can load up and be on your way. All guests receive control through the mobile app, and access to the most extensive Tesla-branded Supercharger network, which means you’re never out of a charge. See Tesla’s “Go Anywhere” network, featuring more-than 20,000 supercharger access points across the continental United States.
Car Accident Replacement
We know how stressful it can be after an accident, and dealing with insurance companies can be draining. Whether dealing with your own insurance, or a third-party carrier, we do the legwork by contacting your claims adjuster and negotiating the best coverage on your behalf. Many times, there is no out-of-pocket cost for your Tesla Rides rental, and we can even invoice the insurance company directly. Understanding you may be out of a car, we bring the rental directly to your home, or car repair facility for a totally seamless experience.
Long Term Rentals

How are rates determined?
We believe in sustainability and lifestyle, and our rates are optimized for rentals lasting 1-week and longer. However, if you need a car for less than a week, we have you covered with our high-service daily rate.

How does insurance work?
Because our rates are geared for longer term use, please provide your own insurance. We accept all major carriers and policies must cover the minimum requirements in the state of Illinois. Currently, Tesla Rides does not offer insurance waiver, or any third-party coverage for use with our vehicles.
How do I charge the Tesla?
For travelers, the fastest and easiest way to charge a Tesla is with the Tesla-branded Supercharger network. Zoom out on the car’s center screen to see all of the charging locations. When navigating to a destination, the car will automatically plan your route, while adjusting for times and locations at supercharger stops. All supercharging costs are pay-per-use, and simply transferred to your account following return.
How are Supercharging costs compared to other options?
Supercharger costs are more competitive than most third-party charging options. Usage costs fluctuate based on time of day, location, and utilization of available charging equipment. Please remember to disconnect when charging is complete, to avoid unnecessary idle fees.
Do I have to download and use the Tesla Mobile App?
Each Tesla Rides customer will receive a physical key to start and lock/unlock the vehicle, as well as full mobile app access. The mobile app allows you to remotely locate, charge, lock/unlock, pre-condition cabin temperature, see tire pressure, and much more! We believe using the mobile app is a big part of the Tesla experience, however the mobile app download, install, and usage, is completely up to you.
Do Tesla Rides vehicles come with Full Self Driving?
Yes! What sets Tesla Rides apart from all other companies renting out Teslas, is that all of our vehicles are upgraded with Full Self Driving technology (a.k.a. FSD). In fact, only Teslas that were purchased with FSD have full self driving capability — currently about 5 percent of the worldwide fleet.
What is the difference between Telsa Autopilot and Full Self Driving (FSD)?
Autopilot is an advanced driver assist system (ADAS) and perfect for highway and interstate driving where only driving speed, lane-keeping, automatic lane changes, and automatic breaking is preferred.
Full Self Driving, on the other hand, is the latest, most advanced, member-only, self-driving technology in existence. When FSD is engaged, the vehicle will take you from your current geographic position toward your destination while making turns, adhereing to traffic controls, navigating traffic situations, and entering/exiting store parking lots, all while under your watchful control.
Both FSD and Autopilot software are continually improved through over-the-air software updates. Please note: Autopilot nor FSD are fully autonomous, and the car still requires your full attention while driving. Drivers must keep their hands on the wheel at all times when the car’s cruise control, Autopilot, or FSD features are engaged.
Must I use Autopilot or FSD?
All of our Tesla vehicles are equipped with Full Self Driving software, currently in beta mode. While many guests love the enjoyment, convenience, and comfort of letting the car do the work, we understand it takes some getting used to. Using Autopilot or FSD is completely optional, and any Tesla can be driven manually just like a traditional automobile.
Can I rent a Tesla for longer than 30 days?
Yes! Although, state limits require a new rental agreement after 30 days, you may keep your vehicle and seamlessly continue your journey while using our contactless rental technology.
